tabletopfetus: So I sparked off quite the twitter controversy earlier today by stating my preference for Ditko over Romita on Spider-Man.  Don’t get me wrong, JR SR is a legend, a meticulous craftsman and one of the best in the history of comics, BUT he was just too clean and romance comic like for me on Spidey.  Spidey was a nerdy kid under Ditko who visually “moved” unlike ANYONE before him.  Seriously, look at the unique pose here, that’s body language you don’t get from anyone else.  To say nothing of creating a few characters…. Off the top of my head in the Spidey Universe - Chameleon, Flash Thompson, May and Ben Parker, Circus Of Crime, Electro, The Enforcers, The Scorpion, Green Goblin, Jack O Lantern, Jackal, J JONAH JAMESON, Kraven, The Looter, Lizard, the Molten Man, Mysterio, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Gwen Stacy, the Vulture and Mary Jane.  Not too shabby.   Again, just a preference. * dunno if you folks like me talking about influences on here but hey if you dig it lemme know, I can talk about favorite artists FOR DAYS Ditko is the artist that got me into comics.
